About Us

The St. Christopher Catholic Parish, Games Village, Kaura, Abuja, FCT has grown from strength to strength since the first official mass was celebrated in June 2008 at the site office of the Games Village Resident Association (GVRAA) by Rev. Fr. Conolly (SPS). The Church was an outstation of St. Linus Catholic Church Chika Alieta. The out-station was ceded administratively to the St. Patrick Missionary Society and became a Parish in 2016.

Celebration of mass moved from the GVRAA site office to a one-hectare property acquired by the Archdiocese of Abuja and a temporary structure was erected that accommodated a maximum of 500 worshippers at a time. Following Fr. Conolly’s departure in 2010, Fr. David Kiprono (SPS) was appointed Parish Priest and he immediately began the construction of a Parish House which was completed in 2015 as well as the laying of the foundation stone of the permanent parish building by His Grace John Cardinal Onaiyekan, Archbishop of Abuja also in 2015.

In 2017, Rev. Fr. Muindi Kioko (SPS) replaced Fr. Kiprono as Parish Priest and continued the construction of the permanent Church which columnated in the roofing and continuous celebration of mass in 2024. The permanent Parish building can sit up to 2000 worshipers.

The Church activities have expanded from a single mass every week on Sundays, to consistent weekday masses and 3 Sunday masses every week. Over the years the Parish has consistently administered the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Statutory Organizations including the Catholic Men Organization (CMO), Catholic Women Organization (CWO) and Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) maintain vibrant engagements creating for a for spiritual and socio-economic wellbeing of members. Pious societies including the Legion of Mary, Catholic Charismatic Society, the Confraternity of Our Mother of Perpetual Help offer members additional opportunities for spiritual growth.
